Petal Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Petal ("we"), based in Kosovo. By using Petal you accept them.

1. What Petal is, and isn't

Petal compares the ingredient lists of cosmetic products with the preferences and profile you enter, and explains ingredients in plain language. It is general information, not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it cannot tell you whether a product is safe for you. Ingredient lists can be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and formulas change. Always read the product label, follow the manufacturer's instructions, patch test, and ask a doctor or pharmacist about allergies or skin conditions. Don't rely on Petal in an emergency.

"My skin changed" and your skin history show what you logged and what changed around the same time. Patterns are about timing, not proof of a cause, and they are not a diagnosis. See a doctor or dermatologist if a reaction spreads, hurts, involves swelling or breathing problems, or lasts more than two weeks.

"Good match", "Conflicts" and similar labels only describe how a product's listed ingredients line up with the preferences you set. They are not statements about a product's safety or quality. "Dupes" and "similar products" are based on ingredient lists only; concentrations, texture and results can differ.

2. Product data and brands

Product data and photos come partly from Open Beauty Facts (Open Database License; photos CC BY-SA). Brand and product names belong to their owners; Petal is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. No brand pays to appear or to be ranked. If you believe information about your product is inaccurate, contact hello@petalroutine.com and we will review it promptly.

3. Accounts

Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 16.

4. Free features and Petal Plus

Scanning products is free. Some features have limits on a free account (for example, how many products you can save), and some are part of Petal Plus. What's included is shown in the app.

Petal Plus is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple, yearly or monthly. The price, period and any free trial are shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends (or at purchase if there's no trial). It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Features in Plus may change; we'll never remove core paid features during a period you've paid for without a fair alternative.

5. Reviews and content you post

Only share your own honest experience. Say if you got the product free or were paid (these reviews are labelled and excluded from the score). Don't post anything unlawful, abusive, misleading, spammy, or that infringes others' rights or includes other people's personal information, and don't post photos of anyone else without permission. You keep ownership of your content and give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and adapt it (e.g. resize photos) in Petal while it is on the service. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules. Reviews are users' opinions, not ours. Report problems with the "…" menu on any review.

6. Acceptable use

Don't scrape, copy or resell the service or its data, bypass security, App Check or free limits, interfere with the service, add false product information or barcode matches, or use it to harass anyone.

7. Liability

Petal is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on the information shown. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

8. Changes and ending

We may update these terms and will tell you about material changes in the app. You can stop using Petal and delete your account at any time.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kosovo. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring claims there.
